Make Like Ciara with 1, 2 Step Makeup

YSL. Dior. Fenty Beauty...L’Oreal, Rimmel...love ‘em all. I drop dollars on Sephora like I make bank. I make Target runs on the regular. I could watch YouTube videos by Pixiwoo, Lisa Eldridge, and Jessica Clements all day long. Thing is, I don’t really wear that much makeup on a day-to-day basis. Instead, I prefer to go mostly ~au naturel~ with a hint of color. That being said, give me a good reason to glam up and I’m in (as long as it doesn’t require me to stay out too late).

My makeup routine of choice is a simple two-step process. Pick two features on my face to color and call it a day. Lip and brows, cheeks and eyes - these are my go-to combos.

My favorite combo:
1. Fill in my brows
2. Slap on some lipstick

Just fleshing out your brows can make a world of difference. I feel like I look more alert and put together.

When it comes to lipstick, I tend to opt for liquid. The less I have to fuss and reapply, the better. I really like Sephora Collection's Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick; they’re $14 each, come in a nice variety of colors, and stay on your lips for a pretty long time. If I want something that will last through anything, I usually go for Kat Von D. A more budget-friendly option is Rimmel’s Provocalips. It’s like $7 and comes in some classic colors. The color 'Play with Fire' fits my skin tone perfectly! All of this being said, I’ve lately been really into stains and tinted lip balms. Probably because it’s summertime. I love Fresh’s Sugar Punch tinted ‘lip treatment’. I am also a devout fan of YSL’s Tatouage Couture Lipstick. It's pricey but the formula isn’t drying and the colors are so vibrant! I do have to reapply semi-frequently, but it’s totally worth it

If I feel like my skin is looking extra dull, I like to put some blush on. I’m really into cream blushes at the moment. I love a good peach or strawberry shade - something bright to add life to my face. I don’t add a lot, just enough to give me a rosy touch. Warning: If you put too much on, someone at work will come up to you and ask you where you went over the weekend to cause such a sunburn on your face…

I went through a phase where eye shadow wasn’t relevant to me. I didn’t like carrying around a giant palette. Plus, eyeliner just seemed to be the better option. Who doesn’t love a good cat-eye? More recently though, I’ve come to appreciate eye shadow and its ease of use. I carry around the small Naked palette from Sephora - has about 6 color options. I’ll often swipe the medium color on the lid and then a light color under my eye and in the corners. I also like buying single eye shadows from drugstores. I tend to opt for warm, matte shades, although occasionally I’ll pick up a shimmery one. I use my finger to apply because then I don’t to have to carry a brush and I have more control so no mirror is required.

I'm really into pinks and peaches at the moment. The colors tend to flatter my caramel/olive skin tone. Plus, they make me feel I've been kissed by the sun. What colors are you feeling at the moment and why? Also, has anyone found a way to use pink as an eye shadow? I really want to be able to do so without looking sickly...
